Vooruit Event Hall - VIERNULVIER Arts Center, Ghent

For the VIERNULVIER Arts Center, located in the historic De Vooruit Event Hall in Ghent, De Klerck Engineering was responsible for the design and modernization of the technical systems as part of a comprehensive renovation project for this protected heritage building. The project involved modernizing the ventilation systems in the historic Ballroom and Dom Hall, where high-efficiency air handling units with flow control were discreetly integrated into existing structural frameworks, preserving the heritage character while ensuring quiet, efficient air distribution for performances and rehearsals.

At the same time, the outdated boiler rooms were upgraded with efficient heat generators and optimized hydraulic circuits in accordance with current standards for energy efficiency and fire safety. Since the arts center remained largely operational during the work, the project required a phased approach with close coordination with the facility’s management.
