Sint-Niklaas Brothers' Elementary School
De Klerck Engineering provided the complete engineering design for the building services and EPB reporting for the new Brothers' Elementary School in Sint-Niklaas, supported by an AGION grant. Following the demolition of an outdated building, a modern, urban three-story school building was constructed.
Heat is supplied by a weather-dependent cascade system with two condensing gas boilers (200 kW each) to minimize standby losses. All enclosed rooms are equipped with a balanced Type D mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery coupled to a heat pump.
A building management system (BMS) ensures zone-controlled optimization of the HVAC system and energy-efficient LED lighting with occupancy sensors, supplemented by rainwater recovery for toilet flushing.
