Scharphout Site, Lissewege
For the Scharphout Site in Lissewege, De Klerck Engineering was responsible for the complete engineering design and supervision of the technical systems, as well as EPB reporting. Commissioned by the City of Bruges, a new circular community center was built, featuring a sports hall, library, local service center, youth centers, and landscaped outdoor areas.
The technical concept was tailored to the site’s varied uses, with significantly fluctuating occupancy levels and specific comfort and acoustic requirements. A geothermal BEO field with heat pumps provides fossil-fuel-free heating and cooling, integrated with underfloor heating, fan-coil units, and demand-controlled ventilation with heat recovery tailored to each function.
Water conservation and renewable energy also took center stage in the design. The plumbing system utilizes rainwater harvesting with a capacity of 50,000 liters, while 404 PV panels contribute to on-site electricity generation. Together with LED lighting, occupancy and daylight-based controls, energy monitoring, and a well-designed low-voltage infrastructure, this results in an energy-efficient, comfortable, and future-ready community center for Lissewege.
