Ghent City Council – Gothic Wing

For the restoration of the Gothic wing of Ghent’s historic City Council, De Klerck Engineering conducted an in-depth structural analysis and provided structural consulting services.

The project followed a strict heritage restoration process, beginning with dendrochronological analysis and material testing of the wooden ceiling structures and masonry. After temporarily shoring up and securing critical components, our team oversaw the structural repairs: the restoration of damaged roof structures, the consolidation of natural stone elements with lime mortar, the reconstruction of an unstable chimney, and the discreet installation of concealed anchors and tie rods to stabilize the historic facade surfaces.
