De Viron Estate (Sint-Pieters-Leeuw)
Design and renovation of De Viron Estate into a public building, primarily housing the municipal library
As part of a Design & Build contract, De Klerck Engineering provided structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering design services, as well as EPB reporting, for the renovation and restoration of the historic De Viron Estate in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw to create a new municipal library. A new rear wing constructed from CLT was added to the historic manor house, connected by a central stairwell.
The project was designed in accordance with GRO 2019, with the aim of minimizing its ecological footprint. The innovative energy concept includes a reversible air-to-air heat pump coupled with a variable-flow ventilation system (System D) featuring zone-controlled supplementary heating based on CO₂ and humidity measurements.
In addition, 25 kWp of solar panels were installed, LED lighting with motion and daylight controls was installed throughout, and a telemetry-based water management system was integrated.
