PC Dr. Guislain - Conversion of a Farmhouse into a PVT & Renovation of the HIC

De Klerck Engineering was responsible for the complete design of the technical systems for the conversion of the farmhouse into a PVT (Photovoltaic Thermal) and the renovation of the HIC (High Intensive Care area) within the Dr. Guislain Psychiatric Center in Ghent. Due to the partially protected status of the historic site, specific constraints and limited EPB requirements applied.

To preserve the heritage character of the building, solar panels were not installed. The new heating system was designed with a temporary connection to a fuel oil boiler, fully prepared for a later conversion to a central gas-fired boiler room.

The system includes central Type D ventilation with ceiling cooling in the attic, supplemented by a separate air-handling unit integrated into the ceiling and a split unit on the roof for the newly constructed areas where a higher level of comfort is required.
