The Building in Waregem
Feasibility study for the renovation and modernization of an existing commercial building with retail spaces, offices, and a parking garage in Waregem
For the renovation of Het Pand in Waregem, De Klerck Engineering was responsible for the complete design of the technical systems. The existing commercial complex, featuring retail spaces, offices, and a parking garage, was thoroughly redesigned and modernized, with particular attention paid to reliability, flexibility, fire safety, and ease of maintenance.
The technical design included, among other things, the replacement of the HVAC and plumbing systems. The central heating pipes for the retail spaces and the office substation were replaced, the gas line was modified, and the ventilation systems for the retail spaces were redesigned. The water supply system was also split into a cold-water plumbing system and a separate fire suppression line, including a pressure-boosting system and a rainwater harvesting system.
In addition, De Klerck Engineering designed the renovation of the high-voltage substations, distribution panels, low-voltage cabling, lighting, UPS system, fire detection, and emergency lighting. The firestopping of service penetrations and the renovation and expansion of the elevator systems were also technically coordinated. This resulted in a coherent and future-ready technical system, tailored to the existing building structure and the flexible use of the property.
